We have experiences.

Experiences of one color distinct from another. One sound distinct from another. One form distinct from another. One shape distinct from another. One taste distinct from another. One texture distinct from another. And many more sensory distinctions. And then we have the world of objects. With distinct uses. We have people. Who have distinct features in their looks, speech and actions or the abilities that enable them. We are in the ocean of distinctions. And then we build distinctions on the top of them. Distinctions of rules, norms and incentives. Distinct people with distinct background-desires-abilities performing distinct tasks in order to fulfill distinct demands of distinct individuals (as consumers or workers or civilians).

There are things that are handed down from birth, through childhood, and as we progress towards our teenage and adulthood. Some of these are “told” to us to be followed. Followed because of variety of enmeshed reasons. Sometimes because of convention or tradition, sometimes its religion, sometimes its communitas, sometimes its enforced on our fears, sometimes its lured for some incentives. These so called rules-norms-incentives have peculiarities that are still being studied and contested. Namely that one hand it comes down from a person or a group of persons. Such persons designing the way society ought to co-ordinate and compete. These rules-norms-incentives apply sometimes equally to all. And sometimes differently to different persons/groups (contesting claims of preferential treatments to interest groups, and or affirmative actions). Sometimes it is said that the organizing of the society is actually sort of self-organizing of the society. One where individuals do not just blindly follow the rules-norms-incentives, however they tinker with them. Also because different persons are able to follow or leverage the rules-norms-incentives differently at different times or their states. The collective outcome of individuals agreeing to the earlier and current rules-norms-incentives.

The Idea of Individual and Collective

Where does the individual start and end? In what ways individuals affect the system they are a part of? In what ways the system affect the individuals? Is there a thing like inter-affecting? When does these affecting functions irreparable degenerate or weaken the individual and or the system? Can we really sacrifice individuals for preserving the system? Why ? And why not the opposite?
